What the guides are, and what they are not
The guides, comparisons, calendars, glossaries and updates summarize guidance published by the IRS, state agencies, the Canada Revenue Agency, India's Income Tax Department and other official bodies. They exist to help you understand a topic and prepare good questions. They are not tax, legal, accounting, investment or immigration advice, and they cannot reflect your own facts.
Rules, limits and deadlines move in all three countries. Each guide carries the date it was last updated and links to the official source. If a guide and the official source disagree, follow the official source and tell us so we can correct the page.
When a client relationship starts
Browsing, calling or writing to us does not make you a client. A CPA-client relationship begins only when both sides sign an engagement agreement that sets out the work, your responsibilities and the fee. Until then, keep confidential details to yourself.
Scope of our practice
We are a U.S. CPA firm. We prepare U.S. federal and state returns and information reports and represent clients before the IRS and Illinois agencies. We do not prepare Canadian or Indian returns and do not appear before the CRA or Indian tax authorities; licensed professionals in those countries do that work, and we coordinate with them. We are not a law firm and we do not give immigration advice. We do not promise refunds, penalty relief, treaty benefits, audit results or loan approvals; those depend on facts and on decisions made by others.
Sponsored links and sister sites
Several elements on the site are labeled Sponsored: the ribbon across the top, the cards beside articles, banners placed inside some guides and the network list in the footer. They lead to sister sites that share ownership or a business relationship with the firm behind this site, and some placements may be paid. Each link carries the sponsored attribute. We choose placements by topic relevance. A sponsored link is not a recommendation about your situation and does not replace professional advice. Sister sites have their own terms and privacy practices.
Privacy
- Information the site handles. The site has no accounts, forms or checkout and never asks you to type personal details into a page. Our web host and the network that delivers the site record routine technical logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser) for security and troubleshooting.
- Cookies and measurement. We do not set advertising cookies or run third-party analytics. If we add measurement tools, we will describe them here first.
- Site search. Search happens inside your browser using a list of page titles and summaries delivered with the site. Your queries are not sent to us.
- If you contact us. We use what you tell us to answer you. We do not sell or rent personal information. Please keep Social Security numbers, SINs, PAN and Aadhaar numbers, account numbers and identity documents out of ordinary email and web forms; after you become a client we will explain a secure way to share them.
- Client information is confidential and is handled under the engagement agreement and the professional standards that apply to CPAs.
- Links to other sites. Government sites and sister sites are outside our control.
Our phone number is an image
The phone number is displayed as a picture to reduce automated scraping and spam. The picture has a text alternative for screen-reader users.
Accessibility
The site is built with headings, landmarks, descriptive links, keyboard-friendly menus and high-contrast text, and it adapts to phones and tablets. If something is hard for you to use or you need a page in another format, contact us and we will work with you.
Reporting an error
Tax rules change quickly and mistakes happen. If you spot an outdated or incorrect statement, send us the page address and the official source through the contact page. We verify, correct and note meaningful changes in our updates.

Link to us freely. Please do not republish pages wholesale; short quotations that credit and link to the page are welcome. The underlying government publications are public, and every guide links to them.
