India IPO Calendar: Mainboard and SME Issues Explained

India IPO calendar of mainboard and SME issues, with how the price band, UPI bidding, allotment and T+3 listing work and what NRIs and U.S. holders should note.

Updated October 23, 2026 · 5 min read

The India IPO calendar follows companies that plan to raise money from the public on the NSE and BSE, on the mainboard or on the smaller SME platforms. Indian public issues run to a tight SEBI-regulated timetable: a published price band, a bidding window of a few working days, payment blocked through your bank and listing within three days after the issue closes. This page shows the calendar, explains each step, covers how NRIs can take part and sets out the tax and reporting points for Indian residents and for U.S. and Canadian taxpayers who hold Indian shares.

The table below states its own as-of date and is compiled from exchange and regulator information. Issue dates, price bands and sizes change, so treat each row as a dated snapshot and read the red herring prospectus.

How the IPO process works in India

  1. Eligibility. SEBI's entry norms give an unlisted company two main routes: the profitability route, or the QIB route, where the issue is through book building and at least 75% of the net offer is allotted to qualified institutional buyers.
  2. Draft offer document. The company files a draft offer document with SEBI, or with the stock exchanges for SME issues. It is made public so that people can comment before it is filed with the Registrar of Companies.
  3. Red herring prospectus. For a book-built issue, the red herring prospectus has all details except price and number of shares. The floor price or price band is announced at least two working days before the issue opens.
  4. Price band. The spread between floor and cap must be at least 5% and not more than 20%. If the band is revised, the bidding period extends by three days, up to a total of ten working days.
  5. Bidding window. A book-built issue stays open for 3 to 7 working days.
  6. Bidding and payment. ASBA is mandatory: your bank blocks the amount in your account and unblocks it if you are not allotted shares. Individuals can use UPI up to Rs 5 lakh. Only retail individual investors, who bid up to Rs 2 lakh, can choose the cut-off option, which accepts any price within the band.
  7. Allotment. SEBI says there is no discretion in allotment: categories other than retail, non-institutional and anchor investors are allotted proportionately, and each retail and non-institutional applicant receives at least the minimum bid lot if shares are available.
  8. Listing. Shares list within three days after the issue closes (T+3). On the first day, trading starts after a call auction, with a 5% price band for issues up to Rs 250 crore and 20% for larger issues, and issues up to Rs 250 crore trade in the trade-for-trade segment for 10 days.
  9. Lock-ins. In a public issue by an unlisted company, promoters must contribute at least 20% of the post-issue capital, locked in for 1.5 years in the usual case, and the remaining promoter capital is locked in for six months from listing.

How to use an India IPO calendar

Calendar fieldWhat to check
Mainboard or SMESME issues are listed on platforms such as NSE Emerge, and their risks differ from mainboard issues
Price band and lot sizeConfirm in the red herring prospectus
Open and close datesUPI mandates must be approved before the window closes
Issue sizeIt decides the first-day price band if listed
Anchor, QIB, non-institutional and retail portionsThey show where demand is expected

Risks to understand

  • A published price band is not a promise of the listing price. Prices on listing day can differ widely from the issue price.
  • Listing-day price bands limit one day's move, not losses over several days; see the India unusual volume guide.
  • Grey-market chatter and tip groups are not official. See our scam alerts.
  • Allotment is proportionate in oversubscribed categories, so you may receive fewer shares than you bid for.

Can NRIs apply?

SEBI's general information document lists NRIs on a repatriation or non-repatriation basis among eligible bidders, subject to applicable law, and says NRIs may be restricted from holding shares above certain limits or in specific sectors. For NRIs, a bid of up to Rs 2 lakh may be considered under the retail category, and a larger bid under the non-institutional category. NRIs applying with UPI should ask their bank whether the account is UPI-linked. See NRI investments in India and NRE, NRO and FCNR accounts.
