Annual business reports by country look similar on the surface, a short yearly filing that keeps a company in good standing, but the deadline logic differs in each place. Illinois ties the report to the month the entity was formed, Corporations Canada ties it to the incorporation anniversary, and India ties company filings to the annual general meeting and LLP filings to the financial year. This page compares the three systems for owners who run an Illinois LLC, a Canadian corporation and an Indian company or LLP at once, and shows how to keep one calendar.

What does Illinois require?
Illinois LLCs and corporations file an annual report with the Secretary of State within the 60 days before the first day of the anniversary month. The LLC fee is $75 plus a processor charge, and a missed report puts an LLC in delinquent status, then penalty status, then administrative dissolution about 120 days after delinquency. Corporations also pay franchise tax with the report. The full procedure is in our Illinois annual report and registered agent guide, and dates are on the Illinois compliance calendar.
What does Canada require?
Every federal corporation must file its annual return with Corporations Canada every year, and ISC information is filed with it. Business corporations file within 60 days after the incorporation, amalgamation or continuation anniversary; the online fee is $12. Corporations Canada's policy is to dissolve corporations that have been in default of their annual returns for at least two years, after a final notice that allows 120 days to respond. Ontario corporations file their annual return directly in the Ontario Business Registry, and other provinces run their own registries on their own schedules. The annual return is not the T2 income tax return. Details are in Canadian corporate annual returns and registers.
What does India require?
Companies. Under the Companies Act, 2013, every company other than a One Person Company holds an annual general meeting in each year. The first AGM is due within nine months of the first year-end and later ones within six months of the financial year-end, with no more than 15 months between AGMs; the Registrar can extend by up to three months for special reasons. For a company with a March 31 year-end the AGM is therefore due by September 30. A copy of the financial statements (Form AOC-4) is filed with the Registrar within 30 days of the AGM, and the annual return (Form MGT-7) within 60 days of the AGM. A One Person Company files financial statements within 180 days of year-end. A late filer faces a penalty of Rs 10,000 plus Rs 100 a day, up to Rs 2 lakh for the company, and officers in default are also exposed.
LLPs. The LLP Act, 2008 requires an annual return within 60 days of the close of the financial year (Form 11, May 30 for a March year-end) and a Statement of Account and Solvency prepared within six months of year-end and filed in Form 8 within 30 days after those six months (October 30 for a March year-end). Delay costs Rs 100 a day, capped at Rs 1 lakh for the LLP and Rs 50,000 for each designated partner.

What documents do you need in each country?
- Illinois: file number, registered agent details, managers or officers, principal office address.
- Canada: corporation key or shared access, director and registered office details, an up-to-date ISC register.
- India: audited financial statements, board and AGM records, shareholder list, DIN and digital signature certificates for signatories, LLP agreement for LLPs.
- All: a record of which entity files for which year, with dates.
How do you run one calendar for three countries?
- List every entity with its jurisdiction, formation date and financial year-end.
- Convert each rule to a date: anniversary month (Illinois), anniversary plus 60 days (federal Canada), AGM-based dates (India companies), year-end-based dates (India LLPs).
- Put the earliest date in the diary with a 30-day reminder.
- Keep the annual filings in step with income tax filings; see the U.S. federal tax calendar and the India compliance calendar.
- Share the calendar with your Canadian CPA and Indian Chartered Accountant.
Worked example
The Rao family owns Fox Valley Imaging LLC (Illinois, organized in March), Maple Imaging Inc. (a federal Canadian corporation incorporated on September 12) and Rao Imaging Pvt Ltd (India, March 31 year-end). Illinois: the 2027 report is due before March 1, 2027 and may be filed from December 31, 2026 for $75. Canada: the anniversary is September 12, so the annual return and ISC information are due by November 11, 2026, $12 online. India: if the AGM is held on September 30, 2026, AOC-4 is due October 30, 2026 and MGT-7 by November 29, 2026, a Sunday, so file before it. The LLP side, if they also own an LLP, would be May 30 and October 30, 2027.
Mistakes to avoid
- Confusing an annual report or annual return with the tax return.
- Treating a Canadian provincial corporation as federal and the reverse.
- Holding the Indian AGM late and then missing the 30- and 60-day windows that run from the AGM date.
- Leaving the Illinois registered agent address outdated.
- Letting a dormant company in one country accumulate defaults; each registry can act against non-filers.
